False-Self, Wounded-Self, True-Self
Over the course of our sexual abuse, we learned to “just survive”. Make it through another day. We developed our “False-Self”, wearing the masks of who we want to present to the world. The False-Self wants to maintain the status quo, protect itself, and not have anyone ever see their “True-Self”.
This False-Self differs from our “Wounded-Self”. Wounded-Self shows others just a small piece of our abuse to others. This can be with our emotions or actions or our medical illnesses.
False-Self and Wounded-Self are always
battling against each other. We see this as we try to Come Out From Under our
abuse and move on to being a Survivor.
But we can overcome this battle.
How? By embracing our “True-Self”.
Our True-Self is love and goodness created by
a “higher power”. You were born to be
loved and to give love & goodness to others. To be a Survivor we must overcome this battle
from within between the False-Self and the Wounded-Self. Our abuse is in the past and we are safe now;
able to claim the victory as a Survivor.
Today, claim your victory. Claim your True-Self.
The storm has passed. See the rainbow?
It’s beautiful. Life is beautiful.
And you are beautiful too.
